CfP: Feedback Analytics in Education – Guiding Designs and Solutions

An edited volume by Muhittin Sahin (University of Mannheim, Germany) and Dirk Ifenthaler (University of Mannheim, Germany and Curtin University, Australia)

Introduction

Data is crucial for assessment processes (Sahin & Ifenthaler, 2024). At the same time, feedback processes, which are an indispensable part of assessment processes, should be further examined. Feedback analytics has a significant potential for discovering feedback patterns and optimising learning and assessment processes. To reveal this potential, it is necessary to understand the data in these processes, identify the crucial metrics, determine the relationship between theory and practice, structure process and environment organizations accordingly, prove their effectiveness and efficiency, and provide empirical evidence for these processes.

This edited volume collects original contributions that critically reflect the current state of research in feedback and identifies ways how to harness data and analytics for feedback. It will also to present practical cases to stakeholders, including the following tentative topics:

  • Design principles of feedback analytics
  • Determine metrics or features/attributes for feedback analytics
  • The contributions of feedback analytics to the field of learning analytics and learning sciences
  • Dashboard design and visualisation for feedback analytics
  • Evaluation of the feedback analytics applications from stakeholders’ perspectives

As a result, the edited volume will present a collection of conceptual and empirical contributions.
