UNESCO Chair on Data Science in Higher Education Learning and Teaching

The UNESCO Chair on Data Science in Higher Education Learning and Teaching at Curtin University has been re-appointed for another four-year term. 👏 Since 2016, the UNESCO Chair has been leading global efforts to improve learning through datascience. Joining Professor David Gibson is Professor Dirk Ifenthaler as Co-Chair, reflecting Curtin’s ongoing commitment to advancing research and innovation in hashtag#education.

Professor Gibson said he was honoured to be reappointed and looked forward to the opportunities ahead. “I am thrilled to continue leading this important work applying data science to reshape higher education, empower students and improve teaching practices on a global scale,” Professor Gibson said. “With Professor Ifenthaler stepping into the role of Co-Chair, we are positioned to further amplify our impact and explore new, innovative approaches to address educational challenges.”

Curtin University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Paul Brunton, congratulated Professors Gibson and Ifenthaler on their appointments. “The renewal of Professor Gibson’s Chair and Professor Ifenthaler’s new leadership role as Co-Chair reflects Curtin’s ongoing commitment to advancing research and innovation in education,” Professor Brunton said. “Their combined expertise is pivotal in advancing data-driven approaches to the way we teach and learn, both in Australia and internationally, as we strive for more inclusive, equitable and quality education for all.”

The UNESCO Chair in Data Science in Higher Education Learning and Teaching at Curtin University is part of a network of 1000 UNESCO Chairs worldwide. The program brings together universities and research institutions to collaborate on education, science, culture and communication projects aimed at developing innovative solutions to pressing challenges.
