{"id":1965,"date":"2025-11-07T09:03:34","date_gmt":"2025-11-07T08:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ifenthaler.info\/website\/?p=1965"},"modified":"2025-11-07T09:04:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T08:04:02","slug":"outstanding-journal-article-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ifenthaler.info\/website\/?p=1965","title":{"rendered":"Outstanding Journal Article Award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are thrilled to announce that our article, \u201cDesigning adaptive learning environments for continuing education: Stakeholders\u2019 perspectives on indicators and interventions,\u201d has received the Outstanding Journal Article Award from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/search\/results\/all\/?keywords=%23aect25&amp;origin=HASH_TAG_FROM_FEED\">hashtag#AECT25<\/a> Division Distance Learning! \ud83c\udfc6<br><br>Here\u2019s a quick glimpse into our research:<br>\ud83d\udd0d Adaptive learning environments (ALE) hold immense potential to personalize and support learning in continuing education (CE). However, a gap exists in frameworks guiding their design. Our study aims to fill this void by developing a framework of indicators and interventions for ALE in CE, informed by stakeholder perspectives\u2014including learners, CE specialists, and educational technology experts.<br><br>\ud83d\udcca We conducted an interview study with 37 participants to identify key indicators for ALE in CE. This was followed by focus group interviews and an online survey to further specify and evaluate potential interventions.<br><br>\u2699\ufe0f We identified several critical internal (e.g., prior knowledge) and external (e.g., time available for learning) indicators. Corresponding interventions, such as adapting the difficulty level and thematic focus or recommending timely suitable resources, were also explored.<br><br>\ud83d\udcd0 Our framework classifies interventions based on identified indicators and adaptivity type. It includes evaluations of learners\u2019 willingness to engage with these interventions, perceived support in learning, and implementation effort.<br><br>\ud83c\udf1f This comprehensive framework serves as a valuable resource for researchers, system designers, and specialists in CE and educational technology, facilitating the design and implementation of user-centered and trustworthy adaptive learning environments.<br><br>\ud83d\udc4f Thank you to all who supported our research journey.
